Our Story

When Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate first opened the doors to its flagship Jetty Road store back in 2005, it was one of Adelaide’s first and only dessert bars.

Sue’s background was in retail and she ran a small chocolate and confectionery shop in Blackwood. While Garry, a former high school teacher, brought his passion for teaching and training staff to the business.

Bracegirdle’s began to thrive and two years later the second café at Toorak Gardens opened.  This was followed by McLaren Vale, then Marion, Cross Roads and Blackwood.  They invested time, energy and money into ensuring the business’s chocolatiers were as highly skilled as possible.

This training certainly paid off, with the company now boasting the enviable title of ‘Australia’s most awarded chocolate company’.

“Being able to train staff and watch them grow with the business has been hugely rewarding for us as owners.

We are proud to say there are still staff members working with us today who were there in the very beginning – which is almost unheard of in the hospitality industry.

We believe in setting the bar high across all areas of our business, from our food to our coffee, our staff training and our customer service.

We hope to see you soon for a coffee to start the day, a light lunch, high tea, decadent dessert, our famous hot chocolate and of course, our award winning handmade artisan chocolates, at any of our four locations.”
